$500.00
Cefixime Suspension 100 mg is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic formulated for pediatric use. It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to the elimination of susceptible bacteria. Cefixime is highly effective against a range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, making it a reliable choice for treating bacterial infections in children. It is commonly prescribed for respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections (UTIs), otitis media, and gastrointestinal infections caused by susceptible organisms.
Recommended Usage:
- Indications:
- Treatment of upper and lower respiratory tract infections, including pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia.
- Management of urinary tract infections, including cystitis and pyelonephritis.
- Treatment of otitis media (middle ear infections).
- Effective against typhoid fever and gastrointestinal infections caused by susceptible pathogens.
- Dosage and Administration:
- The usual pediatric dosage is 8 mg/kg of body weight per day, which can be administered as a single dose or divided into two doses every 12 hours.
- Shake the bottle well before each use to ensure proper suspension.
- Administer with or without food; however, taking it with food may improve gastrointestinal tolerance.
- Complete the prescribed course to avoid bacterial resistance, even if symptoms improve.
- Precautions:
- Not recommended for patients with a known allergy to cephalosporins or penicillins.
- Use with caution in patients with a history of gastrointestinal disease, particularly colitis.
- Monitor renal function in patients with kidney impairment, as dose adjustments may be required.
- Consult a healthcare provider before use in children under six months of age.
- Overuse or misuse may lead to antibiotic resistance.
